AC Maintenance this spring

As New England heads into the warmer months of the year, ensuring your vehicles air conditioner r is properly working is key to enjoying your time driving. When a vehicle's air conditioner is broken, it can make commuting uncomfortable to the point where you may avoid driving altogether. We wanted to write a blog regarding things to look out for regarding your air conditioning in addition to maintenance tips for this Spring and Summer!

Common AC issues

There are primarily 3 issues that occur with AC systems in vehicles. Luckily, these all have easy solutions that can be done either by the owner or a mechanic at your local Hogan Tire & Auto. The three issues AC’s see most often are Leaks, Blockages, Low Coolant Levels, or the AC’s compressor has failed. Continue reading to learn a little more about these issues!

Leaks

Leaks are caused by worn down rubber seals, which AC systems have many of, or a faulty manifold on the AC’s compressor. If your AC system is experience leaks, a replacement of these parts is your best bet. Hogan Tire can ensure the proper installation of these rubber seals and manifolds on your vehicle.

Blockages

As mentioned above, the condenser is what makes the AC function. Condensers can become clogged with dirt, grime, and general buildup that may end up blocking the airflow. A trained mechanic at Hogan Auto & Tire can inspect your vehicle's condenser and assess if it requires cleaning or replacement.

Coolant

An Air Conditioner’s coolant or refrigerant level will directly impact the degree to which your AC will cool the interior of your vehicle. Understanding how much coolant your vehicle requires is important to keep your AC functioning properly. You can elect to refill your coolant on your own but relying on a trained professional at Hogan Tire will uncover other potential issues like if your coolant is evaporating too quickly.

Compressor Failure

There are multiple reasons your compressor may have failed. There is a component called the Compressor’s Clutch, which is a common source of why an AC’s compressor has failed. Since the compressor connects the AC system to power and is the device that creates the cool air, it can be tricky accurately diagnosing why it's failing unless you are a trained professional or have worked on a vehicles AC. If you suspect your AC’s compressor isn’t working properly, visit your local Hogan Tire & Auto today.
