What does ASE Certified Mean?

The independent, non-profit, National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) conducts the only industry wide, national certification program for automotive technicians. ASE certifies the competency of individual technicians through a series of standardized specialty exams (brakes, steering & suspension engine repair, etc.). Tests are conducted twice a year at over 600 locations around the country and are administered by the American College Testing. The exams stress real-world diagnostic and repair, not theory. They are not easy; one of three test-takers fails. For those who pass, certification is valid for 5 years. To remain certified, technicians must be re-tested every 5 years. Consumers benefit from ASE certification. It is a valuable yard stick by which to measure the knowledge and skills of individual technicians as well as the commitment to quality of the repair facility employing ASE certified technicians.

Hogan Tire requires technicians to be ASE certified. We encourage certification through company paid training programs and a reward system for the successful completion of each exam.
